The Great Yarmouth Borough Council development management committee has unanimously approved the theatre's listed building consent application for vital repair works to the roof.

The temporary works will see the removal of the damaged copper roof to the small hall, repairs to the iconic turrets and balusters as well as the removal and storage of a decorative cowl and some stained glass windows whilst full repairs and restorations take place.
The work is due to start towards the end of the summer or early autumn and fundraising is well underway to find the final part of the £20,000 bill.
Alex Youngs, Chief Executive of the Gorleston Pavilion Trust, commented "We're absolutely delighted that the council have voted unanimously to approve these vital works and have also spoken so positively about our efforts to start a full repair and restoration of the building.
"This is the start of a 5-10 year programme of works that will cost upwards of £5m to complete and will safeguard the building for at least another century."
